"It's a Wonderful Life" (1946) (black and white or color) - A man learns the meaning of life when he sees what would've happened if he never grew older. Others to watch: "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (also on Disney+) "Christmas With the Kranks" "Serendipity" "Scrooged" "Love Actually" and "The Holiday." It's probably Allen's best holiday effort. "The Santa Clause" (1994) - Tim Allen stars in the first of three, this one becoming Saint Nick himself that helps him to bond with his son. Not a bad soundtrack either, including Busta Rhymes, Smash Mouth, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Faith Hill. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (2000) - Ron Howard directs and Jim Carrey stars as the Grinch. Crosby actually sang "White Christmas" on the big screen first in the 1942 film "Holiday Inn" but most everyone remembers the 1954 one and associate it with Christmas. "White Christmas" (1954) - Any holiday film list must include this classic, starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney. The "pillows scene" is among many funny moments in a film that wraps up nicely with a heartwarming tale.

"Planes, Trains and Automobiles" (1987) - Some would call this a Thanksgiving film, but it leans heavily on Christmas themes and has become a classic holiday "buddy" film starring Steve Martin and the late and great John Candy.
